This is a critical role for the company, overseeing all financial matters for the firm and reporting directly to ownership. The Controller will hold responsibility over key functions that go beyond day to day accounting, and will also be responsible for treasury management, oversight of IT, HR and some compliance issues. This is a hands-on role, and will supervise one other individual in the department. Key responsibilities: - Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll - Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques - Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies - Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals - Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners - Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis - Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation - Manage the production of the yearly budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field - Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines - CPA or MBA preferred - Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills - Strong Microsoft Excel skills required - Maintain accountability for self and others to make sure that results are achieved - Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement - Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision - Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IIA standards - Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds - Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired - Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity - 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years as a Controller preferred - Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions - Month end closings experience desiredRobert Half Finance & Accounting, the world's leader in specialized financial staffing, provides exciting full-time opportunities in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, audit, taxation and more.
