The Public Interest Network is hiring a Program Director who will craft the next set of campaigns for our national field and advocacy organizations and hone the strategy and messaging of existing campaigns Every year The Public Interest Network and its primary subsidiary affiliates US PIRG and Environment America run dozens of campaigns to protect the public interest and save the planet We have hundreds of staff in more than states who are organizing the grassroots building coalitions with top allies networking the media for earned coverage and advocating directly with decision makers to win on campaigns Our major efforts right now include Environment Americaa s campaign to stop the massive decline in honeybee populations by banning neonicotinoids one of the pesticides primarily responsible for bee deaths US PIRGa s campaign to convince Kentucky Fried Chicken to source their meat from suppliers who do not routinely use antibiotics for non therapeutic purposes which is leading to the rise of antibiotic resistant diseases Environment Americaa s campaign to protect the Grand Canyon from uranium mining by creating a new National Monument As Program Director you will work with the advocates at US PIRG and Environment America and with state office directors in dozens of states to expand the opportunities on our existing campaigns and to develop new campaigns The Program Director will report to The Public Interest Networka s Chief of Staff Responsibilities Issue Portfolio The Public Interest Network and its groups work on campaigns that fall into more than different issue areas This breadth of issue work enables The Public Interest Network to build more power and reach more audiences The Program Director would be responsible for ensuring that each issue area has a clear message marketable materials and a plan for campaign work of the highest quality Developing Positions The Program Director will work with our team of advocates and researchers to propose platforms for The Public Interest Network to adopt For example you might lead a team in crafting a comprehensive infrastructure program for the new Presidential administration and Congress in Campaign Strategy and Messaging The best campaign is only as good as its theory of winning and its message to decision makers the general public and the base With dozens of campaigns happening all around the country the Program Director will work with The Public Interest Networka s Campaign Directors to embrace successful strategies and to craft effective messages New Campaign Development Create the next visionary campaigns for The Public Interest Network US PIRG and Environment America Work with a team to pick the issue identify a policy handle research the targets craft a message write the strategy and create a campaign plan Fundraising Write grant proposals build relationships with foundation staff and meet with major donors to raise money for existing and new campaigns Qualifications Candidates must have a minimum of years of professional experience in campaign or program development grassroots organizing building nonprofit organizations and or campaign politics Related advanced degrees such as aJD or Mastera s may count towards experience but are not required Ideal applicants will be excellent writers and communicators have a track record that illustrates a strong work ethic and an uncompromising commitment to getting the job done and be smart strategic and creative thinkers Compensation Benefits Compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and or advanced degrees that a candidate has The Public Interest Network offers a competitive benefits package Location Boston MA Washington DC or Denver CO To Apply Fill out our online application Direct your application to Kyle Larson Hiring Director for The Public Interest Network Things To Know When You Apply The Public Interest Network is a group of organizations that share a vision of a better future a set of core values and a strategic approach to making positive change Click here for things you should know about our network when you apply The Public Interest Network is an equal opportunity employer and will not discriminate against any employee or applicant on the basis of race color national or ethnic origin religion age sex disability pregnancy sexual orientation gender identity or veteran status Connect With Us Job Inquiries Leigh Anne Cole Email
