Volunteer Coordinator, Justice Campaign

Your Role … As an experienced Volunteer Coordinator you will manage all elements of volunteering through the Immigration Justice Campaign, including recruitment, engagement and retention of pro bono attorneys (and supporting non-attorney volunteers such as law students, paralegals, and interpreters/translators). The Coordinator will be responsible for engaging them in opportunities to receive training, to represent detained immigrants (or serve in a supporting role on a legal team), and to advocate for the due process rights of non-citizens. In particular, the Coordinator will connect volunteers to pilot projects. The Coordinator will work with other colleagues to design an engagement ladder for Campaign volunteers. The Coordinator will execute the engagement ladder and will manage the volunteer community on the Immigration Justice Campaign website, communicate regularly with volunteers, and track and report on volunteer engagement. Essential job functions of this role include: Work with other staff to design recruitment and engagement strategies for attorney and non-attorney volunteers, including by conducting assessments of current volunteers and the nature of their interest and ability to volunteer and execute the engagement ladder; Track and survey volunteers' experiences and their engagement with the Campaign's missions and objectives; Manage volunteers and their relationships with Campaign pilot projects at detention centers around the country, including by serving as the primary liaison between the volunteers and the pro-bono coordination staff of our local partner legal service organizations; Work with the Campaign's Communication Specialist to communicate with volunteers regularly in a targeted fashion; Work with the Campaign's Training and Education Coordinator, Mentorship Coordinator, and other staff to ensure volunteers are connected with resources to support their pro-bono work; Manage and maintain the Campaign's online volunteer community and web-based engagement platform; Draft content for online posts or other communications with volunteers; Interface regularly with lawyers, advocates, and other volunteers (email, phone and online); Perform administrative/clerical tasks, as needed, to help connect volunteers with the appropriate opportunities and resources; and Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned. As with all positions at the Council, this position requires commitment to the Council's mission. Your Background … Undergraduate degree and a minimum of 3 years' experience successfully building capacity through strategic volunteer engagement, ideally including within the legal community. Position requires demonstrable creativity in volunteer outreach through multiple media channels (including social media) and experience using volunteer management systems and online community platforms.
