The remote establishment began life as a garage built in the late 1890s, and has evolved since opening in 1978 into a culinary campus with guestrooms, a farmers market, and shops.This much-lauded Southern getaway was built for celebrating special occasions. More is more when it comes to the dcor of these dining rooms - tapestries, tasseled silk lampshades, billowing fabrics, and floral patterns produce a riotous sense of opulence. Tables are elegantly set with the chefs personal collection of implements, some of which he has designed himself.Guests choose from three tasting menus highlighting American cuisine often prepared using local product, pulled from the restaurants own gardens. A perfectly seared duck breast gets a drizzle of brandied cherries plucked from the on-site orchard.Currently, The Inn is expanding its team, and is seeking outstanding candidates for AM COOK.Essential Job Functions: (Responsibilities include but not limited to)Demonstrate competent knife skills, cooking skills and safe operation of all kitchen equipment.Complete opening and/or closing checklists for each shift.Assist in achieving food and labor costs through monitoring inefficiencies and waste.Ensure work station mise en place is completed to standards.Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment according to Virginia State Health regulations.Strictly adhere to recipes and standards for product preparation and platingPrepare ingredients while adhering to Virginia food safety standards.Work alongside co-workers to further develop culinary skills.Assist with inventory, receiving and proper storage of product.Able to lift 40+ poundsAbility to multi-task and prioritize in a very fast-paced environmentAbility to improve through training, direction and criticismWork well with other coworkers while displaying a positive and team player attitudeExcellent communication skillsAbility to consistently prepare food as requested on the order ticketMust use great attention to detailSelf- Motivated and able to excel under pressureMust exemplify Intermediate knowledge in product identification and useUse book knowledge in International cuisine and techniquesAble to kneel, bend, and stand in temperatures up to 90 degreesRequired Qualifications:Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidaysMust have a culinary experience in a fine dining environmentHigh School diploma or equivalentCulinary degree preferred but not requiredCertification in food safety and sanitation is also preferred
