Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate site visits and congressional visits. Track and analyze federal legislation and regulations that impact behavioral health. Develop communications deliverables related to policy (policy white papers, regulatory comments). Participate in policy advocacy events and meetings.This is a paid internship. Duration will be 6 months with the possibility to extend. Intern must be based in DC. Job Qualifications:Required Education: Bachelors degree and progress towards or achievement of a Masters of Public Policy, Social Work, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Nonprofit Administration, Political Science, Government Affairs or Business AdministrationRequired Experience: At least 2 years' experience in direct social work with persons with mental illness and/or addiction; or At least 2 years' experience in healthcare quality improvement, health IT project management, or implementation research.; or At least 2 years' experience in behavioral healthcare federal policy analysis and/or advocacy Skills: Very skilled in Microsoft Word, and Excel, Powerpoint Experience with facilitation of small and large meetings and events, both in person and electronically. Experience planning of small and large events. Excellent writing, editing, research, and keyboarding skills with rapid turn-around. Strong analytics skills; ability to analyze regulatory language and develop regulatory comments.Traits: Flexible, detail oriented, conscientious, independent worker with a high degree of responsibility. Enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and with different abilities. Skilled with diffusing conflict and nurturing a positive work environment.
