Human Resources Specialist
Pontoon is looking for an HR Specialist for a client of ours in Herndon, VA, with specializations in either HRIS and Compensation, or employee Training & Development. This person will provide support, project management and program administration across multiple HR functional areas. This position will be onsite every day. Responsibilities: Provide counseling, guidance and information to staff and managers on policy and procedure, recruiting, training, benefits and compensation issues Help to create, develop and implement Training and Development program for the company Support execution of compensation, benefits and HRIS program delivery Provide pricing support and expertise for proposal work Assist with assigned recruitment related activities including but not limited to identifying hiring needs, communication with internal and external stakeholders, scheduling, logistics, post-interview feedback, documentation, selection, negotiation, and on-boarding Perform employee relations activities such as guiding performance management, full-cycle investigation/dispute resolution, exit interviews, and maintaining compliance with company Policies and Procedures as well as applicable employment laws. Assist with special projects and HR initiatives Other duties as assigned. US Citizen Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field. Master's and/or professional certification preferred. 5+ years progressively responsible work experience in a small or mid-sized HR department supporting at least 2 cross-functional areas of HR. Experience working in the government contracting arena is REQUIRED Knowledge of International, Federal, State and local regulations concerning employment, leave and reporting requirements. Willingness and ability to work non-standard hours as needed. Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills. General knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Applicant Tracking and Human Capital Management systems. Familiarity with UltiPro preferred. Ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise. Must show initiative, self-motivation, and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
