Basic Function Underwrite/decision traditional Business Banking credit requests with group credit submitted to the Credit Shared Services group. Assist with monitoring the performance of existing loan portfolio within assigned regions or business lines. They perform a mentoring function with the relationship managers and insure the requisite level of technical expertise. Incumbents are responsible for the credit quality of the portfolio of loans approved under their respective authority. Essential Position Responsibilities * Adjudicate traditional and moderately complex applications for credit submitted by relationship managers in their assigned regions. * Insure that established turn-time standards are met. * Process requests through the credit analyst group for completion of the credit analysis document. * Additionally, will be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the final analysis document. * Participate in the monitoring the credit quality of the loan portfolio in their assigned geography. This includes monitoring delinquency, catalog loans, non-performing loans, charge-offs and recoveries in the portfolio. Insure relationships in the portfolio have the appropriate risk ratings. Insure that collateral exceptions and policy violations are minimized and that lines and loans are renewed and reviewed in a timely manner in compliance with the Bank's credit policies. * Meet with relationship managers quarterly. Work with the relationship managers in their assigned markets to enhance their credit skills. * Monitor field approvals/overrides in their assigned region and provide feedback to Senior Management as appropriate. * Participate in various department initiative projects as needed. Nature and Scope The individual in this position will have an impact on the profitability of the regions and business lines they support and will impact overall Bank profitability as well. Effective underwriting and portfolio management skills are essential for the department to meet its profitability and loan growth objectives. The individual in this position must insure that loan applications are decisioned timely and in a manner consistent with the Bank's credit philosophy. Loans must be structured to meet risk criteria while supporting the sales force in their objective of growing the loan portfolio. The effective monitoring of the loan portfolio will ensure that credit losses are minimized. The incumbent interacts with Credit Administration, Collateral and Documentation and Counsel's Office on issues relating to commercial lending and credit policy. They will also maintain relationships with representatives from the Small Business Administration and local development companies. Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree or in lieu of a degree, 4 years work experience * Formal credit training. * Minimum ten years in relevant financial industry (banking, commercial, insurance, leasing) with five years credit/underwriting experience. Ideal Qualifications * An MBA with concentrations in finance or accounting is a plus. * Strong computer skills are required, eg Microsoft Word and Excel. * Ability to develop rapport and work well with relationship managers. * Requires being a team player with a dedication to customer service and a strong sense of urgency. * Excellent communication skills and have the ability to interact effectively with Executive Management. * Strong knowledge of accounting and financial analysis is required. Formal credit training and thorough understanding of business and personal tax returns desired. * Sound knowledge of legal statutes that pertain to commercial lending including contract and UCC law, collections, compliance, etc. * Knowledge in SBA and various government/municipal guaranteed and participation loan programs is preferred.
