Lorien of Taneytown is actively seeking an experienced and compassionate Cook to join our dedicated kitchen team. The hours are scheduled between 7am-10pm and you must be available to work weekends and Holidays. The ideal candidate must possess a vibrant and dynamic personality with a lot of energy. They will assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals in our professional kitchen. As a Cook, you will prepare food in accordance with applicable guidelines and regulations while ensuring that quality food service is provided at all times. You will also be responsible for adhering to sanitary and safety regulations. The responsibilities for this position includes: * Preparing food according to the menus, special diet, and nutritional restrictions, and numbers of portions to be served. * Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours * Memorize, record, and comprehend menu items, abbreviations, plate appearance, and portions * Follow standard recipes and special diet orders * Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently * * Cleaning and inspecting kitchen equipment and appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning operations. * Portioning and serving food to the residents. * Compiling and maintaining records of food use and expenditures. * Taking inventory of supplies and equipment and reporting any discrepancies to the Supervisor on duty. Qualifications: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) * Previous experience in cooking, culinary arts, or other related fields * Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities * Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques * Strong attention to detail * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment * Ability to work well as a teams
