Paul Spring Retirement and Assisted Living Community is looking for an experienced Sous Chef. At Paul Spring the Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef in all phases of meal preparation. Paul Spring offers great full-time benefits packages and a 401K The Sous Chef does, but not limited to, the following: Maintains a working knowledge of culinary methods as related to ingredient preparation and recipe execution. May assist in procurement of food inventory and supplies. Properly labels and stores food items in accordance with safe storage standards. Understands the operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment (food processor, dishwasher, convection oven, etc.) Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment, including floors. Responsible for creation and preparation of baked food items, breads, desserts, etc. Performs scheduled cleaning of equipment and work according to schedule as planned by the Executive Chef. Assists in organization and rotation of all stored food items. Assists on the serving line when needed. Minimum education of high school graduate with additional training in culinary arts preferred. Must hold current Serve Safe certification. Must have the ability to read, write, and follow directions both verbal and written. Must have the willingness and ability to independently resolve problems and make decisions within scope of authority. Must be willing and able to perform simple repetitive tasks. Must be in designated uniform during working hours. Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays. Must have the physical ability to stand for long periods of time and to exert 25 lbs. of force frequently, 50 lbs. occasionally, to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
