JOB SUMMARY The Mental Health Worker is responsible for all of the direct supervision of clients involved in daily activities to include life skills group, recreation, behavior modification, non-clinical/non educational curriculum, transportation, and any special activities. The Mental Health Worker's mission is to implement a program that enables each student to achieve their maximum potential in their physical, social, and emotional development in conjunction with the educational program provided by the Lincoln Intermediate Unit. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Supervise clients: Supervise clients in scheduled activities, providing structure, behavior modification to include restrictive procedures (physical restraints) as necessary and positive reinforcement for positive behavior. Provide crisis management to students in need. Supervise all meals to ensure that each student receives a balanced diet in a quiet, clean environment. 2. Training: Maintain certification in Safe Crisis Management or other de-escalation curriculum. Maintain CPR and First AID certification. Attend scheduled trainings and seek feedback from job performance. 3. Develop and Facilitate Life Skills: Plan and implement a safe, balanced, daily activity program that promotes teamwork, cooperation, fitness, physical coordination and appropriate challenges. 4. Transportation: Provide transportation for scheduled field trips/classroom trips utilizing program vehicles. 5. Other: Maintain cleanliness in all recreation/vocational areas. During non school time, this position may assist with various building and/or general maintenance duties. Be responsible for tools and equipment while conducting an inventory at the end of each marking period. Work directly with educational staff and communicate with patents and/or outside agencies. 6. The employee could experience inclement weather conditions such as rain, snow, cold or hot temperatures. * This position requires ability to sit and drive and transport children in the company vehicle when necessary. * Service location may require the ability to climb stairs on an infrequent basis. * Noise and sound levels in the work environment is moderate. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Health Workers usually work day shifts, Monday through Friday. Work may include supervising activities, providing crisis intervention, or providing behavioral support. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree and/or previous experience working with at risk youth. CERTIFICATIONS OR LICENSES REQUIRED: State Police and Child Line Clearances FBI Clearance Valid PA Driver's License Diocesan Youth Protection Training Adequate auto insurance according to agency policy Physician note stating employee is free of communicable diseases. First Aid/CPR Certification. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year working with at risk youth, mental health systems, or educational setting.
