The Vice President for Policy & Advocacy is responsible for the oversight, coordination and management of Company's public policy efforts. The position is responsible for the development, implementation and management of Company's advocacy strategy at the federal level and for supporting advocacy at state and local levels. The Vice President serves as a lead advisor to the President & CEO on organizational strategy. Responsibilities include direct lobbying, management of outside consultants, and overall management of the Policy Department. The Vice President for Policy & Advocacy serves as the lead staff support and liaison to the member organizations of the Public Policy Committee that informs Company's official federal policy positions. EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in public health, social service, or related field required. Master's degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years of related work experience is required. Capitol Hill or legislative experience is a must with a background in HIV/AIDS policy. Experience must include a minimum of 5 years in a senior management position. PREFERRED APPLICANT EXPERIENCE/CONTENT KNOWLEDGE Must have ability to listen, analyze, think strategically and creatively, and work well with people individually and in a group. Individual should have demonstrated ability to consider multiple viewpoints about controversial issues and to communicate AU's perspective effectively with all stakeholders. Must have familiarity and experience with legislative, regulatory, and advocacy processes. REQUIRED SKILLS Position requires a highly organized individual who is self-motivated and able to take initiative with sound judgment. Proven organizational, managerial, and analytical skills required. Must be able to provide leadership and effectively engage managers and staff in working toward organizational goals. Must have the ability to perform responsibilities in a professional manner and to handle assignments with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Position requires strong writing and communications abilities. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work independently as well as a member of a team. Individual should understand the balance and challenges between national program management and local community implementation. Must be proficient in MS Office Suite. Experience in the CQ ENGAGE platform a plus. SALARY RANGE Competitive salary offered, commensurate with education, experience and salary history REPORTS TO President & CEO SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Director of Government Affairs, Director of Health Policy PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESServes as a member of the Executive Team and the Senior Management Team;Lead, develop and prioritize organization's federal policy agenda;Serve as lead staff manager and liaison for the member organization based Public Policy Committee;Be informed about the organization's mission, services, policies, and programs;Advocate for policy positions with elected and appointed federal officials; .Prepare and present information at stakeholder and constituent events on behalf of Company;Remain updated and informed regarding appropriate regulatory issues.Collaborate with policy partners, constituents and stakeholders across sectors and interests;Communicate regularly with staff regarding governmental and public policy updates and issues;Represent positions and viewpoints of the Company Public Policy Committee across national policy settings and in related meetings and forums; Guide policy staff in supporting PPC committees, efforts and priorities; .Other duties as required.
