Weather Analytics is looking for an outstanding business-savvy lawyer to serve as its Vice President & General Counsel, based in the Company's Dover, NH, offices. Weather Analytics has a team-based culture where we work hard and have fun while doing it. That mentality applies equally to our lawyers. A successful GC for us thrives in a client-centric, service-oriented environment. She or he will possess critical thinking and highly effective written and verbal communication skills, and can manage multiple projects and a team of inside and outside counsel simultaneously. A successful candidate will also able to pivot on the fly ' going from adding redlines to a lengthy Statement of Work to advising internal stakeholders, to playing ping-pong in our game room. A collaborative spirit, client centricity and sense of humor are non-negotiable. Roles and Responsibilities: Lead and manage inside and outside counsel Spearhead the patent application and prosecution process, using both internal and outside counsel and experts Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with third parties, including clients and vendors Conduct and supervise research on complex legal issues that may arise throughout the course of business operations Advise the leadership team on legal matters, as they may arise, from employment questions to corporate transactions Provide supervision, project feedback and mentorship to junior lawyers Draft and review documents related to equity and debt issuances Other legal-related tasks as assigned by the CEO or his designee Required & Desirable Qualifications: A service-oriented and experienced problem-solver in negotiations and support of management A win-win approach with all stakeholders ' whether employees, clients, investors, vendors or business allies Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school License to practice law in New Hampshire License to practice law in Washington DC a plus Patent license and experience in patent exploration, application and prosecution At least 10 years of experience at a law firm or as in-house counsel, or a combination of both Litigation experience a plus but not required Demonstrated effective time management skills ' but you won't have to worry about billable hours! Demonstrated adaptability ' able to change, teach and grow regularly as the company continues its rapid growth Strong work ethic ' we are a fast-paced young company looking for motivated, self-starting employees The ability and experience to generate, review, and negotiate contracts with predictability, user-friendliness and a classic win-win approach that builds relationships and encourages all stakeholders to do business with us again and again Significant experience drafting and reviewing corporate transactional documents A strong interest in intellectual property, as IP is at the heart of everything we do at Weather Analytics A history of effective written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated high integrity, steadiness and track record of safeguarding confidential information in accordance with all regulations and fiduciary duties related to working in an in-house counsel role High level proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as project management and cloud-based platforms Experience (preferable) or strong interest in M&A Demonstrated willingness to work extended hours to complete projects where necessary and travel on occasion as the business requires
