Job Description: Gathers all pertinent demographical and insurance information from the patient. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring gathered information is entered accurately and expeditiously into the computerized system. Through self directed work, schedule customers and process registrations for patients entering the healthcare organization through various points of entry, securing all necessary information for internal operations, while introducing customer to the environment. Secures necessary signatures, complete billing screens, collect required payments, begin the financial responsibility process by arrange payment methods, assist patients to various departments, answer questions, work closely with other healthcare professionals and outside organizations. You must have the ability to be cross trained to cover various areas of registrations. Education & Experience :High school diploma or equivalent required.Some college preferred.Minimum two years medical office experience in a healthcare facility or physicians practice required.H ospital registration experience preferred.Intermediate computer skills required.Medical Terminology required within 6 months of employment.Current work experience requiring interacting with customers. Licensure & Certification :Medical Terminology certification required within 6 months of employment.CHAA certified within 1 year of employment required. Skills & Abilities:Demonstrated ability to proficiently operate an integrated hospital operating system.Certified in medical terminology and through understanding of the authorization process for payors and insurers.Demonstrated ability to accurately and timely register a patient while ensuring the financial responsibility of the patient is met.Demonstrated ability to follow the QA process for Patient Access.Ability to prioritize work responsibilities and meet deadlines is required.Ability to work in a Multi tasked environment.Demonstrated Customer service skills.Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.Ability to communicate effectively with Hospital staff, Physicians and their staff, visitors and the general public is required.The ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of all patient, health system and departmental documents is required.Ability to stand for long periods of time and flexibility to transport mobile computer cart in registration.Bilingual or Multilingual a plus.The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with patients, physicians, health system officials, other health system personnel and the general public is essential.Ability to perform basic math functions is essential.Ability to identify problems, collect data, and establish facts in order to effectively resolve problems. Physical Demands : Will work in a clean, well-lighted but occasionally noisy and multi tasking, fast paced environment. Requires standing approximately 75% of the time; requires walking and sitting approximately 25% of the time. Requires pushing mobile carts within the hospital for bedside registration. Requires lifting and carrying reports weighing up to 20 lbs. approximately 10% of the time. Escorts direct admissions to floor using wheelchair.
