## Introduction The Maryland Department of Health's Developmental Disabilities Administration oversees the operation the Potomac Center. The Potomac Center is a State Residential Center and is responsible for the provision of needed services to people who have intellectual disabilities admitted to the facility while working to integrate these people into less restrictive settings in the community. The mission of the Potomac Center is to provide therapeutic interventions in support of people with intellectual disabilities to lead meaningful lives in the community. Their guiding principles are: Teamwork, Quality, Trust, Accountability, Open Communications, Integrity, Honesty, Respect, Pride, and Loyalty. ## GRADE 17 ## LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Potomac Center, 1380 Marshall Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740 ## Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to provide nursing care in a ward, cottage or unit within the Potomac Center. This position supervises Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and non-licensed nursing or support staff. This position may be required to lift heavy equipment and position non-ambulatory patients and may require long periods of standing, walking, bending and reaching. This position may also be assigned to work day, evening, night or rotating shifts including holidays and weekends and may be subject to call-in and overtime. If selected for this position, applicant may be eligible for a nursing sign-on bonus. ## MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS **Education**: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses. **Experience**: Two years of experience as a registered nurse, one year of which must have been in the option for which application is made. **Notes**: 1. A Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of general experience. 2. A Master's degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience. 3. Candidates may substitute US Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. ## LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS 1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. 2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. 3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification. ## SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached. 2.
