## GRADE 6 ## LOCATION OF POSITION Maryland Department of Health John L. Gildner - RICA 15000 Broschart Road Rockville, MD 20850 ## Main Purpose of Job A Cook II is the full performance level of food preparation work at State hospitals, residential facilities or correctional institutions. The main purpose of this position is to perform all duties related to meal preparation for the dietary department at John L. Gildner RICA. ServSafe certification is preferred. ## MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS **Experience:** Three years of experience in food preparation at a public or governmental establishment, such as a restaurant, hospital or comparable institution involving the cooking of meats and vegetables and the preparation of salads and beverages. **NOTE: ** 1. Graduation from an accredited vocational/technical high school with a major in food service or a related field may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute US Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Culinary classifications or Food Services specialty codes in the Equipment Services and Facilities field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. ## DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS **SERVSAFE certification is preferred.** ## SELECTION PROCESS Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated. We will not consider information submitted after this date. ## BENEFITS Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits. ## FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS Online application process is **STRONGLY** preferred.
