The Office of Security within the Office of the Secretary of Transportation develops internal security policies for DOT Operating Administrations in accordance with Federal laws, regulations and Executive Orders. The Office of Security is also responsible for personnel security and physical security within the DOT headquarters buildings in the Washington, DC area, and provides classified information security services and industrial security services for the Department.
This position is located within the Office of Security and requires a TOP SECRET clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). The clearance is a condition of employment. The selected candidate will report to the Associate Director for Security Policy, Office of Security, and serve as a senior security specialist with significant responsibilities for creating and implementing security policy across all DOT components.
Ideal Candidate Statement: The ideal candidate is the senior-most subject matter expert in the Department for designated security and related programs, and as such develops national-level policies that ensure Departmental Compliance with Federal law, regulations, Executive Orders and similar directives for physical security, technical security, communications security (COMSEC), classified information security, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), industrial security, Operational Security (OPSEC), TEMEST, HSPD-12 and related areas.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- SELECTIVE SERVICE: Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for the Selective Service.
- GOVERNMENT TRAVEL CARD: This position involves travel. A government contractor-issued travel card will be issued and must be retained for official business only.
- DEU REQUIREMENTS: Applicants selected under delegated examining procedures may be required to successfully complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).
- SECURITY CLEARANCE: Obtaining and Maintaining a TSSCI Clearance is required.
- DRUG TESTING: Pre-employment & Random Drug Testing are required.
- WRITING SAMPLE: A writing sample of 5- 10 pages will be included in the interview process.
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.

To qualify for the Grade 14, you must have:
- Experience with a Controlled Unclassified Information program (CUI) and writing extensive technical reports concerning findings and determinations.
- Experience with Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) accreditation and writing extensive technical reports concerning findings and determinations.
- Experience with the Insider Threat Program and writing extensive technical reports concerning findings and determinations.
