Physical Requirements:This position requires considerable walking, standing, heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), stooping, and other types of physical effort and dexterity in moving and distributing animals, animal feed, cage materials, equipment, and in opening and closing cage doors and gates. Although safety measures are taken, there is always a hazard of injury in working with exotic and unpredictable animals, which may be harboring zoonotic infections.
Qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the job announcement closing date.
Or Education: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent degree related to the position may be substituted to meet the experience requirements

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
Your application will be evaluated first for the basic qualifications described above. The applications that meet the basic qualifications will be evaluated further against the following criteria:
- Skill working as a veterinary technician in an AZA accredited zoo (or similar) setting.
- Ability to perform veterinary clinical support duties on zoo and exotic species.
- Ability to operate and maintain veterinary equipment, and fill and dispense veterinary prescriptions and products related to zoo (or similar) animals.
- Ability to perform veterinary clinical support on zoo and exotic species and to perform veterinary clinical laboratory testing.
- Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Skill in communication, interaction and project participation.
