Within the DoD OIG, the ODIG OCO provides leadership for the Lead IG mission and includes the following divisions: Joint Strategic Planning, Strategic Communications, Joint Program Management, Theater Operations, and Staffing.

The Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Overseas Contingency Operations is charged with keeping Congress, senior agency, OIG leaders, and the public informed of the oversight work and accomplishments of the Lead Inspector General for a designated OCO.
