TECHNICAL INFORMATION SPECIALIST (IMAGERY)

About the Position:
This position is with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Army Geospatial Center in Alexandria, VA.
Management may select at any of the grade levels announced.
Noncompetitive promotion potential to target grade. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Position is designated critical sensitive as defined in DoD 5200.2-R. This requires that a personnel security investigation be adjudicated on a pre-appointment basis which may take up to 120 days or longer to process. The selectee may be allowed to start work prior to adjudication if management approved. Obtaining and maintaining a top secret clearance is a condition of employment. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.
Must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements. This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will participate in drug urinalysis testing, unless currently occupying a TDP within the Department of Defense. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) requiring participation in random drug testing as a condition of employment. A job offer to an applicant who is a not a current employee will be withdrawn if the applicant refuses to be tested. Applicants with verified positive test results shall be refused employment. Applications from such individuals shall not be considered for employment for a period of 6 months from the date of the test results.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. For the GS-09:
Specialized experience is defined as: Perform imagery, geospatial and/or technical information work directed at applying terrain and physical sciences information using state-of-the-art geographic information systems (GIS) data integration, and automated cartographic research and analysis initiatives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07)
A Master's or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or completion of all requirements for an LL.B. or J.D. degree from an accredited college or university. (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of a Human Resources Specialist.) (You must attach a copy of your transcripts. Diplomas will not be accepted in place of transcripts, transcripts MUST be submitted with your application.)
Equivalent combination of education and experience as described in above.
For the GS-11:
Specialized experience is defined as: Performing imagery, geospatial and technical information work directed at applying terrain and physical sciences information to military planning and operational requirements using state-of-the-art geographic information systems (GIS) data integration, and automated cartographic research and analysis initiatives in a complex, interdisciplinary field. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09.)
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. (You must attach a copy of your transcripts. Diplomas will not be accepted in place of transcripts, transcripts MUST be submitted with your application.)
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
For the GS-12:
Specialized experience is defined as: Formulating and conducting imagery, geospatial and technical information advisory work directed at applying unique and complex terrain and physical sciences information to military planning and operational requirements using state-of-the-art geographic information systems (GIS) data integration, and automated cartographic research and analysis initiatives in a complex, interdisciplinary field. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11.)
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
