The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is looking for a proven leader in innovative wellness programming and delivery to serve as the Wellness Director at YMCA Anthony Bowen located at 1325 W Street, NW Washington, DC  20036.

The Wellness Director will:

  • Lead the wellness team in implementing the Association’s best practice model for excellence in wellness programming and operations.
  • Ensure that outstanding Wellness experiences are provided to all members (i.e. supporting the development of motivating monthly member activity calendars, leading excellent wellness floor services, supporting the delivery of outstanding personal wellness training experiences, inspiring excellent new member on-boarding experiences, etc.) to increase member satisfaction and participation in wellness activities.
  • Support the development of the Personal Wellness Trainers, Wellness Coaches, Group Exercise Coordinator and Group Exercise Instructors in enhancing member experiences. 

Supporting our members throughout all stages of their healthy living journey at the YMCA is key to achieving our Association’s strategic priority of enhancing the region’s health and well-being.

Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of five-years experience working within a Wellness department, have a record of delivering excellent personal wellness training instruction and possess active national Wellness certifications. Team leadership experience is preferred. An undergraduate degree (or advanced degree) in exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition or physical education is required. A positive attitude, a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service, and a track-record of maintaining personal accountability within an enthusiastic, team-oriented work environment is a must.
