Collaborative Learning Hub Administrator
The George Mason University Learning Support Services--within Information Technology Services (ITS), located on the Fairfax, Va., campus--invites applications for the position of Collaborative Learning HUB (CLUB) Administrator. The Fairfax CLUB is a facility that serves as a one-stop-shop that supports effective teaching and learning with technology at the university. This walk-in facility features 10 workstations, a conference room, self-service Scantron machine, sound recording space, student presentation practice space collaborative group workstations, and a 3D printing workspace. Patrons can receive Tier I support for various instructional technologies by lab assistants over the phone or in person.
Responsibilities: Under the direction of the LSS Labs Manager, the Fairfax CLUB Administrator will: * Manage and maintain the Fairfax CLUB lab facility, and its hardware and software; * Coordinate hiring, training and leadership development of Lab Assistants and Student Supervisors; * Consult with faculty and staff seeking support on uses of instructional technology; * Participate in the planning and procurement of equipment, hardware and software for the CLUB; * Provide Tier I support for lab equipment; * Maintain inventory of facility equipment and statistics on lab usage; and * Collaborate with appropriate groups to image and maintain equipment.
Required Qualifications: * Bachelorâ€™s degree, preferably in a related area of multimedia, web development, or graphic design; or equivalent combination of education and experience; * Demonstrated experience in hardware and software setup and maintenance; * Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing student staff; * Demonstrated experience in the use of web and media technologies; * Experience working in an academic, multimedia student and/or faculty lab; * Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of instructional technologies sufficient to work with faculty and students in developing skill with these technologies; * Ability to communicate effectively to convey complex materials to a lay audience; * Demonstrated high degree of independence and initiative; * Team player and cooperative spirit; and * Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of web development software, basic HTML coding, and web design and development; * Experience with software purchasing and imaging; and * 3D printing experience.
Salary is up to $50,000; commensurate with education and experience.
