Program Therapist - Social Work - Special Education
The mission of The Foundation Schools is to provide a highly specialized educational and therapeutic program for students with emotional and other disabilities and social emotional and learning challenges, preparing them to be productive and successful in their future academic and career paths. We are seeking a qualified Therapist to provide our students with the tools and guidance they need to be successful.
For over 40 years, The Foundation Schools’ mix of academic support and therapeutic services has given our students a chance to reach their full potential. The Foundation Schools is currently approved by the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia to provide services to students who have not been successful in their home school’s environment. The Foundation Schools has schools in Gaithersburg and Largo, Maryland that serve over 200 students in grades K-12.

Rooted in the Mastery Learning Philosophy, programs are designed and operated to meet the educational and clinical needs of students with emotional and other disabilities. The psycho educational model of the Foundation Schools includes a special education program designed to meet the individual needs of each student, the goals of which are to integrate the student’s treatment plan, behavioral program and educational needs. The treatment program includes, but is not limited to, daily groups, parent support groups, individual therapy, community groups and expressive therapies.

Therapists must possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Psychiatric Nursing or other related field and current clinical license in the State of Maryland (LCSW or LCPC preferred). MSDE School Social Worker Certification or eligibility for MSDE certification required for LGSWs or LCSWs). Three or more years successful clinical experience working with children and/or adolescent preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of DSM-V and IDEA 2004 and their specific applications to educating the students with emotional disabilities and other disabilities.
