Forensic Data Analyst
JOB DESCRIPTION: Forensic Data Analysts supply complex tools and mathematical algorithms to identify unusual patterns and other indications of fraudulent activity. They access, manipulate, and/or combine files to decipher underlying trends or uncover anomalies, and discern obscure patterns and attributes associated with anomalies. Forensic Data Analysts perform proactive inquiries and collaborate with OIG, NGA, and IC organizations to improve data collection, loading, validation and reconciliation, analysis, and reporting.Learn more about this agency

You must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. In addition, you are subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination in order to maintain access to Top Secret information. All employees are subject to a periodic examination on a random basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Refusal to take the examination may result in denial of access to Top Secret information, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs.
Employees with SCI access and who are under NGA cognizance are required to submit a Security Financial Disclosure Report, SF-714, on an annual basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Failure to comply may negatively impact continued access to Top Secret information, Information Systems, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Online resumes must demonstrate qualification by providing specific examples and associated results, in response to the announcement's mandatory criteria specified in this vacancy announcement:
1. Demonstrated ability to apply SQL to acquire data, ensure data quality, perform data cleaning, and track data (Data Stewardship);
2. Demonstrated experience performing data analytics to detect fraud, waste and abuse, including data visualization and creating models for fraud detection (Data Analytics);
3. Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity - Setting priorities quickly and moving forward confidently without having all the desired information, when necessary.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Mathematics, Police Science, Statistics, or a related field. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and qualitative and quantitative analysis experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the tasks associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of college work are equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals to 4 years.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Analytic Software - Tableau, Palantir, and/or SPSS; 2. Analytic Automation - Experience with Python, R, Visual Basic; 3. Investigations and Inquiries - Experience with analyzing and synthesizing information to determine relevant information to support investigations; 4. Written Communication - Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience; 5. Contract Oversight - Knowledge or experience with contracting regulations, policies, and procedures. Experience as a System Administrator.
