Administrative Assistant (Part-Time)
The George Mason University Office of Communications and Marketing is seeking a highly organized and experienced part-time Administrative Assistant. Responsibilities: * Provide general administrative support to the Executive Assistant, Vice President, and directors within Communications and Marketing; * Serves as a backup for managing the calendar of the vice president and as the backup receptionist; * Coordinates meeting and conference room scheduling; provides support for standing and ad hoc committees; and * Provides project management support for special projects or tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications: * Bachelorâ€™s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience; * Demonstrated experience providing senior level administrative support with responsibility for calendar management, office management, and fiscal functions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse audience; * Exceptional computer and technical skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; * Strong ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment, and ensure deadlines are met; * Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail; * Demonstrated service-oriented approach; * Proven ability to work cooperatively with all levels including executives, faculty, staff, students, and the public; * Ability to adjust immediately to new priorities and demands, and respond well to rapidly changing initiatives; * Ability to work independently and take direction from others, resolve problems with limited supervision, and prioritize tasks; and * Ability to exercise confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications: * Previous experience working a state agency highly desired; * Previous experience in higher education preferred; and * Experience working with eVA (Commonwealth of Virginia procurement system) and Ellucian Banner.
