Opportunity to practice social media and public relations at a dynamic and historic Federal agency. Come be part of GPO's Public Relations Office, which serves as the platform in communicating agency news on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and other social media channels to enhance GPO's public image.
Looking for candidates who have social media and public relations experience in a U.S. Congressional office or committee, or at a commercial television broadcast network or affiliate, served as a professional reporter covering Congress, politics, or the Federal Government. Must be able to create and execute social medial campaigns, provide social media analytics, offer ideas of emerging platforms, write press releases and be able to research a variety of assigned topics.
This position is located in the Public Relations Office a staff office to the Agency Director. Under the direction of the Chief Public Relations Officer, the incumbent coordinates and performs a wide variety of duties designed to support agency public relations functions,

To qualify for the Public Relations Specialist, PG -1035-11, you must meet the following requirements:

Selective Placement Factors are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for a position. Applicants who do not meet it are ineligible for further consideration. The Selective Placement Factor(s) for this position are listed below:
- One year of public relations social media experience in a Federal congressional office, and/or working closely with a Federal congressional committee; or for a commercial TV broadcast network or affiliate and/or print/digital media covering Federal legislative politics and policymaking.
- One year of social media experience using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to communicate Federal legislative perspectives, policy, and/or other Federal legislative branch functions and work to organizational constituents, stakeholders, customers, and employees.
- One year of experience using social media analytic tools and processes to gather and present data to enable informed and insightful information-driven decisions for Federal legislative perspectives, policy, and/or Federal legislative branch functions and work.
In addition to the Selective Placement Factor(s), to qualify for this position at the PG-11 grade level, you must also meet the following specialized experience:
Applicant must possess one year of specialized experience at the PG-09 (or equivalent) level or higher which is directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience includes performing work that involves the following: writing and editing a variety of professional internal and external media products for a Congressional office, Federal agency, organization or company. These included: news releases, scripts, talking points, feature articles, briefings, testimony, exhibits, and brochures, fact sheets that integrate an organization or Agency's themes and messaging; AND developing, researching social media content and managing social media platforms as an official representative of a Congressional office, Federal agency, organization or company. Platforms included Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
Applicant must possess a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree (or equivalent) degree in a field related to this position; OR LL.M., if related.
Applicant must possess a combination of experience and education that equals at least 100% of the total requirement.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
