Job Description:
Sentara Healthcare is seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Team Coordinator for the Sentara Center for Healthcare Ethics Division, which has oversight for Advance Care Planning/Ethics/Palliative Care/Patient Rights. This position is rooted in compliance, civil rights, patient rights and policy and will manage a team of four direct reports who collectively support the missions and goals of the division. The Team Coordinator will be heavily involved in various duties and responsibilities to include but not limited to: grievances, advanced directive, DNR, patient visitations, patient deaths, and other policy related topics. Additionally, a detail-oriented eye and effective written and verbal communication skills are required to manage related reporting and maintain policy and procedures. The selected candidate will be a versatile, self-directing leader, with superb multi-tasking skills and a strong work ethic and commitment to professionalism and serving as a liaison between multiple leaders, professionals and support groups within the entire Sentara Healthcare system. A clinical background or clinical knowledge/setting experience would be a very instrumental to this role. This full time position is based in Virginia Beach, VA and requires 10% of travel statewide in Virginia and the northeastern region of NC.

This position is primarily responsible and accountable for the daily operations of the department. Develops, implements and supervises system advance care planning programs, training and associated activities. Serve as a resource to the Certified Advance Care Planners. Coordinate advance care planning within transition of care initiatives. Develops and supervises the system Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) programs, training and associated system activities. Assists with the system Ethics Consultation Services, Palliative Care Programs, and Patient Rights and Civil Rights compliance. Coordinates department related EPIC workflow and data collection with Sentara IT.
