Employee Relations Representative
The EMMES Corporation, organized in 1977, is a privately owned Contract Research Organization (CRO) located in Rockville, Maryland. EMMES is dedicated to providing statistical and epidemiological expertise, computer systems development, data management, study monitoring, regulatory guidance, and overall operational support to clients engaged in clinical and biomedical research. EMMES is seeking an Employee Relations Representative to join our HR staff.
The Human Resources Representative will report to the Employee Relations Director. Primary responsibilities include assisting the Human Resources department in carrying out human resources policies, programs and procedures for all Emmes staff and managers in compliance with applicable state and federal employment laws. This position will also support a positive employee relations climate through effective communications with employees and management and through the coordination of employee events sponsored by the human resources department.
Will work closely with Employee Relations Director providing guidance, support and counsel to employees and managers on employee relations’ issues.
Conducts thorough investigations on employee relations matters and makes recommendations regarding next step.
Implements resolutions to employment relations matters to ensure that employment actions are well documented per company policy and are not arbitrary or discriminatory;
Provides support and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies and practices including performance management. Participating in resolving employee-level workplace issues (terminations, performance, leave).
Performance review administration to include manager and employee notifications and tracking of forms
Conducts 30/60/90 day reviews
Conducts new employee orientations, separations interviews and departure notifications
Processes personnel action forms and ensures proper approvals; disseminates approved forms and maintains employee files
Coordinates staff events planned by the Human Resources Department
Responds to general inquiries from staff regarding workplace policies and procedures
Assist in employee training sessions covering workplace policies and procedures
Requirements for this position include
- Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of progressive human resources work experience to include at least 3 years of experience in employee relations
In depth knowledge of human resources principles, practices and procedures
Knowledge of, and ability to understand and apply, federal, state and local law and their relation to employee relations matters
Must have excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with management and employees regarding employee relations matters
Strong problem resolution skills
Demonstrated ability to understand needs/concerns of employees and managers to develop and apply solutions
- Strong organizational skills, and excellent attention to deta
- Experience using human resources information systems, including report writing; Experience with ADP is preferred
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, including Excel and Microsoft Word
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials; establishing priorities; and meeting deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- PHR/SPHR preferred
