The Nurse Educator functions within the roles of educator, facilitator, change agent, consultant, researcher and leader. The Nurse Educator is responsible for assessment, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs that enhance performance, promote professional development or otherwise supports the mission and vision of the Department of Nursing (DON). EDUCATION : Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required. Master's degree in Nursing, Health Care or Business Administration is preferred. PRIOR EXPERIENCE : Three to five years of progressively more responsible job related experience. Experience in Womens and Infants Services required. Experience in teaching or professional development preferred. CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION/LICENSURE: A license as a registered nurse in the District of Columbia is required. Specialty Certification in nursing staff professional development or in specific clinical specialty must be obtained within one year of hire.
