Data Scientist

Key Role:

Collect, manipulate, analyze, evaluate, and display highly complex data on three-dimensional characteristics and spatial variables on both small and large scales. Leverage geographic information systems (GIS), computer aided design (CAD) software, data base and expert systems frameworks, visual simulation capabilities, remote sensing or satellite imagery collection, and multimedia techniques, including virtual reality to solve problems. Explore new technology for multidimensional immersive virtual environments, apply this technology to a variety of scientific and engineering applications, and develop new ways of collaborating in virtual environments. Explore virtual reality technology for shared visualization and develop collaborative management tools for scheduling and monitoring resources. Devise ways to exploit emerging architectures for supporting human interactions with systems in the 100 teraFLOPS to petaFLOPS range. Use skills and tools, including immersive visualization, distributed computing, object-oriented programming, virtual reality, scalable parallel computing, visualization, C++, computer security, network programming, graphics, Java, Open Inventor, OpenGL, qualitative service, IRIX, CORBA, scientific computing, and silicon graphics. Perform system-wide or cross-functional team management and plan or manage the integration and implementation of new technology.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with Python, R, or other scripting language

-Experience with D3.js, Raphael.js, or comparable data visualization front-end libraries

-Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

-MA or MS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in UI/UX and design

-Experience with SQL databases and NoSQL databases

-Experience with designing and implementing machine learning, data mining, statistics, or graph algorithms in an academic or professional work environment

-Experience in integrating with and retrieving data from RESTful Web services and feeds

-PhD degree preferred
