Assistant Director, Annual Giving Marketing, Email and Digital - Office of Advancement

The Assistant Director, Annual Giving Marketing, Email and Digital, provides vital support for the central Annual Giving team in their primary initiatives of increasing donor participation and current use revenue for Georgetown. S/he works in lock-step with supervisor to create, manage and execute all e-philanthropy and digital marketing for pan campus Annual Giving, and supports and implements strategies to ensure best practices are utilized in these marketing channels. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, Annual Giving Direct Mail Marketing and Operations, the Assistant Director has additional responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

Management and Execution

  • Manages the annual giving e-philanthropy calendar and executes all solicitation, event, and stewardship emails for the central Annual Giving team, along with all unit specific solicitation emails and hyper-giving email campaigns.
  • Pulls and manipulates data lists, records criteria, uploads broadcast lists, builds sender profiles and email layouts, tests emails through appropriate levels of approval, and facilitates final broadcast sends.
  • Ensures accurate recording and tracking for recipient lists, using a strategic and process-oriented approach to opt-out publication lists.
  • Organizes the digital email archive for all emails and provides weekly email reports and trend analysis.
  • Researches best practices and offers suggestions to accelerate growth of email program.

Data Analytics and Results Reporting

  • Provides weekly updates for direct mail, email, and digital marketing efforts, including pulling individual reports based on solicitation codes and channel reports for overall performance.
  • Completes insightful data analysis, including year-over-year and ROI, to assess trends in specific marketing efforts to inform strategy.

Management of Business Operations

  • Manages two budgets for the central Annual Giving team.
  • Acts as a liaison for the internal finance team to account for all external and internal expenses and invoices.
  • Archives all project quotes and invoices for reference.
  • Acts as lead for establishing, renewing, extending, and managing all external vendor contracts.

Direct Mail Support

  • Assists the Senior Associate Director with in house mail projects as needed, and coordinates with internal production team.
  • Supports annual giving unit specific mail projects; serves as contact between various annual giving units and external vendors, including management of RFPs and quotes; updates version sheets; sends final files to vendors; reviews static and variable proofs; and facilitates the approval process.
  • Assists in proofing and data verification of external direct mail projects as requested.
  • Assists in uploading correspondence and record keeping for all direct mail appeals.

Internal Partner, Maintenance of Annual Giving Practices

  • Serves as the point of contact for all internal Advancement partners for code requests, creation, and maintenance.
  • Serves as the lead for facilitation of online giving form requests and strategy for the university.
  • Assists in bringing all solicitation forms to Advancement standards.
  • Participates as a volunteer in Office of Advancement sponsored events.
  • Assists with logistics of Loyalty Society events and other assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 to 4 years of practical marketing experience, preferably in a university or non-profit setting
  • Proficiency in Excel or other data management tools
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign, and experience with email marketing platforms such as Salesforce

Preferred qualifications

  • HTML coding experience
  • Experience with data analysis and presentation
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail
