The Business Analyst supports the consistent, processional, and timely operations of Law Center Human Resource and Business Operations. S/he prioritizes business needs and provides support by running reports, developing personnel productivity metrics, tracking data using an organized filing system, and performing routine audits and large-scale projects to ensure compliance with campus wide standards and federal regulations. Reporting to the Senior Manager for Human Resource Administration, the Business Analyst has duties that include but are not limited to:

GMS Administration

  • Develops and maintains an understanding of all GMS related business process requirements.
  • Develops and implements standard practice and policies based on technical requirements and University standards.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends in complex data that require immediate attention by administration.
  • Develops and provides ongoing reports.
  • Investigates and performs root cause analysis
  • Supports testing and roll out of GMS module updates.
  • Understands improvements that impact departments.
  • Serves community as centralized processing unit and ensures accurate and updated electronic records are kept.
  • Processes compensation increases, tracks institutional funds, completes journal vouchers, and assist with merit increase process while meeting campus wide deadlines.
  • Defines, documents, implements, and tracks process flows for all processes, procedures, and polices for the department.
  • Serves as primary recruiter for Law Center job postings, facilitates standard interview practices, dispositions candidates, and ensures a smooth onboarding experience for new hires.

Business Operations and Administration

  • Works closely with Senior Manager to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Reviews, audits, and files all Human Resource documents.
  • Builds operational processes and toolkits to assist in advising managers and employees.
  • Participates in process requirement planning and validation.
  • Audits existing methods, procedures, and processes.
  • Creates solutions to existing gaps in operational processes and presents them to management using data from various business systems.
  • Communicates process improvements.
  • Serves as operational subject manager expert supporting various constituencies across campus.
  • Utilizes data to provide productivity metrics at the Law Center.
  • Applies appropriate statistical techniques and/or predictive modeling to answer work force related questions.
  • Creates data driven presentations, process guides, and visuals.

Customer Service and Community Support

  • Provides full range of professional customer service duties in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Responds to information requests and questions with the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Serves as liaison between technical and university groups and business units to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establishes and maintains approval processes.
  • Puts communication vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness, and tests the effectiveness of communications activities.
  • Provides one-on-one training for time keepers, departmental administrators, managers, or other system users as needed.
  • Holds regular feedback sessions and completes needs analysis.

Administration

  • Leads engagement initiatives that lead to measureable action or increased compliance.
  • Provides support for Law Center wide reorganizations or realignments.
  • Coordinates webpage maintenance to ensure new and consistent information is regularly updated.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field 
  • 3 years of progressive payroll, human resource, or business administration
  • Experience working with senior management and presenting information in large forums
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in operations using a Human Capital Management Systems
  • Exceptional process redesign skills, data analysis, and written and verbal communication on a large scale
  • Advanced skill set with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to provide operational excellence, clear communication, training, and pristine customer service
  • Preference for experience working for a not-for-profit (higher education) environment
