Business Development Manager (Civil)
Overview The purpose of this position is to develop a robust, sustainable management consulting business portfolio for the US civil market, including seeking out new business opportunities that align with LMI core services. Responsibilities LMI is seeking a seasoned, high-impact leader who can bring strategic perspective and a track record of success in growing business, delivering solutions to problems, and developing and executing sound business development processes. The BD Leader will develop, coordinate and implement marketing plans intended to increase business and capture new opportunities with the US civilian agencies, and related agencies. The BD Leader will also add value to strategic marketing and operations planning. Roles and responsibilities include the following:Understand LMI's corporate capabilities portfolio and collaborate with others in LMI to increase customer base. Be aware of current client footprint and products and services being delivered by LMI to particular clients.Lead, plan, and deliver the full life-cycle of BD activities for LMI's US civilian agenciesMonitor/mine relevant market intelligence (key federal stakeholders, impacted agencies, budget implications, acquisition plans; competitive landscape).Develop targeted, common sense and actionable strategy and related plans.Develop robust multi-year opportunity pipeline of specific new/emerging opportunitiesIdentify / qualify target opportunities, lead capture strategies, and participate in proposal development.Develop appropriate teaming strategies for these opportunities.Represent LMI to civilian agencies for BD opportunities positioning LMI capabilities / services with key clients.Develop and nurture strong relationships with US civil market through the use of actionable call plans and various networking activities. Support appropriate network / outreach activities (relevant market events, industry days and conferences).As part of LMI's BD team, help drive BD strategic planning and direction of BD resources to meet corporate goals.It is anticipated the successful candidate possesses a ready 'portfolio' of US civilian agency contacts and customers in order to immediately build and execute an effective civil agency focused executive and leadership Call Plan while immersing himself / herself in LMI culture, services, and capabilities. Initial accountabilities will be to qualify the existing LMI civil market pipeline and, within the first 12 months, expand that pipeline. Qualifications Critical Competencies and Experience:Direct agency/market experience (civil service or military) and/or business development experience with a US contractor (Strongly preferred would be 10+ yrs direct civil agency /Federal BD experience or, if post-active duty, five (5) years' in BD).Experience developing strategic plans and marketing management consulting services and capabilities.Proven track record of winning competitive business, including IDIQ vehicles and related task awards.Solid relationships with key government contracting personnel in the company's core business linesAbility to collaborate and build win-win partnerships within a firm, with a particular focus on understanding how to articulate and leverage management consulting differentiators.Ability to identify emerging business trends resulting in strategy recommendations to senior management.Excellent communication skills and highly effective interpersonal skills are required as well as an ability to inspire confidence and demonstrate business development leadership.Solid understanding of US Government and specific agency acquisition, budgeting, contracting, and requirements processes.Awareness of / insight into emerging military/government requirements with an ability to formulate common sense solutions to address requirements.
