Senior AV Field Engineer/Validation and Acceptance Engineer 6 Month 1099 Opportunity or Possible Temporary to Permanent Position. Responsible for providing technical expertise in testing, validation, and acceptance of all NIAID/NIH integrated conference rooms/collaborative workspaces and other designated area utilizing AV assets. These assets include: Video cameras, microphones, projectors and flat-panel displays, touch screens, Smart boards, speakers/amplifiers, PC's, Polycom Video Teleconference and VTC associated equipment, DA's, DM's, switchers, scalars, and DSP's.Responsible for validating system build quality and functionality of multiple AV integrated meeting spaces as a part of a large AV integration rollout currently underway at various stages. Prepares by reviewing AV integration design documents including CAD drawings, BOM's, and wiring diagrams. In turn, uses those documents as a basis to validate the AV integrators' work quality and design adherence. Candidate will also oversee the work performed by vendors and act as a single POC for status reporting to in-house AV Design Engineers and management. Must be familiar with the installation of hardware and software related to conference room AV and video teleconferencing equipment. Tests AV functionality and operations at various phases of the integration projects to ensure quality and ensure installation vendors are meeting contract deliverables. Must have experience installing and configuring AV equipment in the field including excellent wiring and cable management skills.Primary role is serving as an integral part of the implementation of new AV infrastructure as a part of a planned AV capabilities upgrade project (50 rooms; multiple locations). After some time in the role may oversee ongoing support and ensure optimal configuration and performance of equipment to meet customer requirements. Provides senior support/resolution oversight by handling routine questions about installation, operation and usage of all types of AV systems software and applications already installed, developed or deployed under this contract. Responds professionally to questions, from both customers and co-workers. Applies advanced diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes and recommend/implement solutions to correct common failures.Ideal candidate should be self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented, and possess excellent technical, analytical and root-cause diagnostic capabilities and experience. Candidate should have the ability to:. Read/understand design drafts and documentation (CAD drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams). Oversee vendor installation and configuration of new room and equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve issues discovered at the site of the installation. Install and configure various AV components and provide excellent wire management and cabling skills. Experience deploying, configuring, and/or supporting Crestron Fusion a HUGE PLUS. CTSD and/or CTSI certifications highly desired . Crestron Certs highly desired. Bachelor degree preferred with at least 2 years of AV installation experience, but will accept 5 years of directly related AV installation experience for consideration without a degree. Expert experience with Crestron equipment including: Touchpanels, switchers, DM's, DA's and processors. Expert experience with DSP's and mixers. Experience working with fabrication vendors for custom rack or AV storage fabrication is preferred. Prior federal government contract experience is also preferred
