Salisbury University, a member of the University System of Maryland, is a regionally accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering 58 distinct graduate and undergraduate programs. Located on the historic Eastern Shore, SU's beautiful campus is some 30 miles from the Atlantic beaches and 2.5 hours from Baltimore and Washington, DC Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Benefits Specialist. Primary Job Duties: Responsible for benefit and wellness program administration and campus outreach. With regard to benefits administration, includes plan options, policy features, enrollment, coordinating, correspondence, employee presentations, health fairs and record keeping/file maintenance. Serve as the liaison between employees and the State of Maryland Employee Benefits Division (EBD), State Retirement and other Retirement Plan vendors to resolve benefit related problems and maintain positive employee relations. With respect to wellness administration, includes developing, implementing and administering the Wellness @ SU program, activities, and initiatives. Assist in other HR areas and perform other HR related duties as required and assigned.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of related experience. Current or able to obtain (within six months of date of hire) certification as a Certified Retirement Coordinator with the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System. Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral & written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, independently, and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field and Certified Retirement Coordinator with the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System. This is a full-time, exempt State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
