The mission of our client, the Walter Reed Walter Institute of Research (WRAIR), is to conduct biomedical research that is responsive to Department of Defense and US Army requirements, and delivers lifesaving products including knowledge, technology, and medical materiel that sustain the combat effectiveness of the war fighter. The mission of the Blast Induced Neurotrauma Branch, Center for Military Psychiatry and Neuroscience, is to evaluate and characterize occupational blast overpressure and its effects on immediate, acute and chronic soldier performance, health and safety. We are seeking a biomedical engineer with a technical background and experience in the collection and analysis of blast overpressure data for data collection in the field with operational US military units to execute research studies for the Blast Induced Neurotrauma Branch. Responsibilities: * Conduct mapping and basic modeling of blast related injuries to military and paramilitary personnel. * Design research studies and provide scientific input into the research process, taking into consideration the study priorities provided by the Principal Investigator and the optimal use of both human and material resources required to conduct these studies. * Develop and maintain SOPs, SSPs and instruction sets to ensure data are properly collected, recorded, documented, and archived. * Assist in preparation of briefing and report materiel including all tables, charts, and figures. * Lead data collection efforts in the field with active units and ensure that all study data are collected, recorded, documented, and archived in a manner consistent with current Good Clinical Practices. * Provide input on statistical design and data collection techniques. * Manage all aspect of data analysis for multiple complex projects and switch from task to task and project to project based on projects requirements. * Provide monthly updates of task performance. * Perform other duties related to designing research studies for the collection of blast over pressure data in field environments with active duty military units as requested.Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree (Biomedical Engineering, preferred), plus graduate training in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or relevant work experience * Experience in a blast research setting actively involved in study design, or equivalent experience * Advanced programming skills in SAS, Matlab, C, C+, Java, and VBA * US citizenship Applicants selected will be subject to a US Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
