Title: Senior Relationship Manager, Community Development/Community Reinvestment Location: Position may be located within the M&T footprint; preference is Metro New York or the Baltimore/Washington region The Opportunity: The Senior Relationship Manager will be responsible for a portfolio of the following types of loans and investments: Loans to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and to Community Development Entities (CDEs), Program-related Investments (PRIs), Investments in Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs) and Equity Equivalent Investments (EQ2). In this critical role, you will service new and existing non-profit relationships, cross sell and administer. Primary Responsibilities: Create a strategic work plan that ties to the bank's CRA goals and objectives. Assist in the creation and approval of standardized underwriting, structuring and covenant guidelines. Identify, underwrite, negotiate and manage the above types of loans and investments. Work collaboratively with CRA Regional Managers and Leadership Teams. Ability to work collaboratively with internal managers and business partners to prioritize market opportunities and generate new referrals. (Credit Administration, Credit Quality Administration, Accounting and Finance, Not-for-Profit Banking Group, etc.). Able to work on own without supervision. On a matrix basis, reports to CRA Manager and Segment Leader for Education & Not-for-Profit banking group relating to underwriting, approval, and negotiation of loan documents. Represent the Bank at meetings, conferences or other venues where the bank desires to establish our presence and expertise relating to these activities. Provide input for the creation of appropriate marketing materials. Present to appropriate bank Committees and Management regarding the portfolio. Follow market trends and developments to increase the bank's business in established and developing markets. Minimum Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree or in lieu of a bachelor's degree, four years relevant work experience. Seven years of experience in the field of community development credit and investment alternatives and/or commercial lending. Strong experience and knowledge of underwriting loans and investments related to business; such as CDFI, CDE, EQ2, PRI, SBIC. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel using diplomacy. Ability to effectively source to prospects and clients. Excellent presentation skills. Working knowledge of personal computers to include MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ideal Qualifications Preferred: MBA. Current experience in a similar role with a large financial institution. Extensive network of contacts in this field in the Mid-Atlantic, New York State and the Northeast.
