Summary: Our client is a diversified, top-tier global aerospace, defense, information and services company. They employ over 15,000 people worldwide and sales exceed $7 billion. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer to work in their Columbia, MD location. Job Description * Conducts research, design, development, and testing of digital processing hardware such as computer chips (ASIC, CPLD, FPGA), circuit boards, computer systems, and electrical components. Designs new or modifies existing products, develops technical specifications for production, analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions, and tests hardware conformance to specifications. * DISCRETION/LATITUDE: Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results. * KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Identifies, analyzes and develops new business opportunities. Answers unusually complex technical questions regarding products and services, and takes part in putting together proposals, configurations, and product offerings. * PROBLEM SOLVING: Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious. IMPACT Develops technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical project objectives. Leads the planning and implementation of large projects/ programs. Contributes to department goals and planning efforts. * LIASION: Serves as organization spokesperson on projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.Qualifications: * 3+ years relevant design experience with BSEE or BS Electrical & Computer Engineering. Employees usually have advanced degree in field of specialization. Preferred Additional Skills * Technical Competencies: Knowledge of High Complexity Digital Design Techniques and Devices. * Area of Expertise: Design of Low/Med Complexity Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) and Low/Med Complexity Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) starting from System De-composition and completing through System Integration and Test. Perform CCA Design specifying Mixed Signal Technology circuits consisting of A/D, D/A, Processors, I/O communication and Programmable Logic (FPGA, CPLD) circuits. Execute CCA Schematic Capture, Parts Selection and assist with Printed Wire Board Layout and Routing. Perform FPGA Design: Architecture, Algorithms, VHDL code generation, VHDL simulation, Synthesis and Device Implementation & Constraints, System Integration and Test. * Other: Candidate must have Hardware debugging skills and be familiar with operation of Signal Generator, Logic Analyzer, Digital Oscilloscope and Imbedded FPGA Debugging tools; Good Communication Skills: Collaborative Design Environment; Good Computer Skills: MS Windows, MS Office and LINUX.
