QUALITY TECHNICIAN 12- HOUR SHIFT CREW 2- Work every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every other Wednesday (Day Shift) CREW 3- Work every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Saturday (Night Shift) Job Summary: Ensures product quality by performing routine checks, tests, and instrument inspections of materials, product in process and finished product. Ensures good manufacturing practices by following procedures for chemical hygiene plan and cleaning calibration equipment. Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Team Leader- Quality. This position receives general guidance from the Quality Technician III and Quality Lead and works according to standards. Essential Tasks: Prep samples for testing (internal/external) Pull samples from production Wash dishes and performs general lab clean up. Performs magnet checks on plant floor. Participate in Plant Shut Downs. Perform all product testing (raw, packaging, finished, in-process) Performs Data entry in all QA systems. Perform metal detector checks on plant floor. Write QNs for all product types and provide disposition Perform Layered audits - GMP Perform Behavior Observation Surveys. Perform SE Swabs and ATP Swabs. Attend/Participate in all Plant Training & Meetings Performs Raw Material Receiving as needed. 98% or better on two separate Validations and 90% or better on six consecutive Proficiency evaluations Train new employees Ensures that quality standards are met by efficiently performing daily and weekly assigned lab tests according to procedures on materials, product in process and finished product. Performs physical analysis of pretzels to determine percentage of specific defects. Performs chemical analysis on product to check for moisture, color, PH, salt%, count per pound, blister%, burnt%, misshape%, rider%, broken%, and pruney%. Conducts lab tests to analyze flour for protein, moisture and ash content. Sieves flour samples to identify possible foreign substances. Conducts testing for special project and integrates into standard routine. Identifies and compares test results to product parameter specifications. Completes all testing and any rechecks for products out-of-range within time specifications so the Team Lead may make adjustments to process to ensure product quality and limited waste. Completes metal checks two times per shift. Documents testing results according to standard procedure. Input specified data into SAP. Notifies Quality Technician III of any test that is outside of the allowed ranges immediately. Maintains equipment and integrity of testing according to set procedure. Keeps equipment and lab clean through daily housecleaning. Empties 50lb. food waste tubs every one-two hours depending on production. Responsible for calibration of laboratory equipment. Assists in complete laboratory cleaning every two weeks. Follows chemical hygiene plan for lab in compliance with OSHA standards. Ensures efficient and quality production and positive employee relations by complying with all employment policies, rules, regulations, safety procedures, good manufacturing procedures, product protection standards and actively participating in all training requirements. Job Qualifications: Essential knowledge, skills, abilities and experience: High School, technical school education or equivalent.Basic computer skills to input data.Basic math skills.Ability to perform lab tests rapidly and accurately.Ability to have attention to detail and documentation.Ability to visually inspect product for flaws.Ability to work individually or as a team.Mental alertness to identify problem areas through predetermined methods.Ability to interpret, understand and follow detailed procedures.Ability to communicate irregularities with Quality Technician III and Team Leaders.Ability to be organized.
