* * Knows, understands, and puts into practicegeneral lab policies/procedures as well as department/section specificpolicies/procedures. Reviews all postedpolicy changes as required. Adheres toall regulatory guidelines. * Demonstrates the ability to assess a situation,consider the options, and formulate an appropriate course of action. Recognizes and performs duties in anindependent manner with little or no supervision. * Demonstrate initial and annual competency in allappropriate designated lab sections within set deadlines. Accurately performs proficiency testing when scheduled. Participates in continuing educationactivities. * Participates in all facility/corporate mandatoryannual training within set deadlines. * Is cooperative in assisting the laboratory teamin the completion of miscellaneous duties. This may include specimen receivingand putting away supplies when received in the department. * Organizes and completes daily tasks in assignedarea{s}. * Troubleshoots/resolves instrument problems anddocuments corrective action in appropriate log; when necessary, performsinstrumentation repairs. Effectively investigates/resolves specimen collectionproblems using Outstanding Specimen Report (OSR) and specimen tracking toolwhen appropriate. * Assures quality control is properly performedand logged, works within quality control limits and trends, and follows properdepartment procedure for corrective action. * Preventative maintenance and safety checks ofequipment are performed and documented according to schedule. * Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to trainnew employees and/or students in general lab policies/procedures as well asdepartment/section specific policies/procedures. * Demonstrates cultural competence by being ableto explain procedures by utilizing communication interventions as appropriatefor all customers across all ages and populations. * Demonstrates knowledge and adheres to allpolicies relating to the Accreditation National Patient Safety Goals for theLaboratory, including, but not limited to critical call read back and patientidentification.EXPERIENCERequired - Graduateof accredited school of Clinical Laboratory Science.Preferred - 1-2years experience as Medical Technologist EDUCATIONRequired - BachelorsDegree in Medical Technology or related sciencePreferred - BachelorsDegree in Medical Technology CERTIFICATIONRequired- Registryeligible, ASCP or equivalent. Successful completion of MT registry within 6months of eligibility or hire. Continuing education to maintainregistry/licensure is required. CPR Certification required for Free Standing EmergencyDepartments.Preferred- MT(ASCP)or equivalent. Registry/Licensure in a specialty area will be considered.Continuing education to maintain registry/licensure is required.
