Executive Pastry Chef, Falls Church, Virginia We have an immediate opening for an experienced Executive Pastry Chef for an established, high end restaurant/event venue. The Executive pastry chef is responsible for the restaurant's baking and dessert operations. In addition to overseeing dessert preparation, the executive pastry chef may handle tasks such as supervising employees, ordering supplies, creating budgets and adhering to sanitation regulations. Must have formal culinary training through associate's or bachelor's degree programs in pastry arts or related work experience. Experience with high end events and/or weddings are crucial to this role. The executive pastry chef oversees the preparation of desserts and the baking of breads in the commercial kitchen. He or she develops dessert recipes and maintains an inventory of ingredients, while striving to achieve cost-efficiency for the restaurant and venue. The Executive pastry chef must possess the artistic ability to make their desserts appealing to the eye. Experience with creating and decorating cakes will be a plus. The executive pastry chef also needs good communication skills since working with other chefs is a major function of the job. This is an excellent opportunity to build a true following.
