Connections Education is part of the global education company, Pearson.Position Summary:From an office in Columbia, Maryland, the Payroll Tax Administrator is responsible for payroll for its corporate staff as well as its administrative staff and teachers located across the country, and assisting internal customers with payroll questions. The Payroll Tax Administrator will provide support to internal customers throughout the organization.Responsibilities: Maintain payroll paperwork and files; Resolve employee concerns regarding payroll questions and issues. Process wage garnishments. Process payroll requests; direct deposit and W-4 changes. Enter and process all new hires, position changes and terminations. Process payroll for multiple companies on a semi-monthly basis. Calculate pro-rated pay for teachers based on individual school calendar. Generate various scheduled reports each pay period. Administer Ultipro Time Management software, and produce reports as needed. System setup of earnings codes, departments and tax locations. Create and process various payroll imports for payroll processing and system changes. Generate ad hoc payroll reports and reconcile discrepancies for other departments as requested. Respond to audit requests for payroll information and resolve discrepancies when needed. Work with accounting to resolve variances in payroll general ledger accounts. Calculate and process adjustments to pay data when needed. Calculate bonus eligible earnings for bonus payouts. Process tax registrations, research and resolve tax notices as required Work with third-party tax vendor to setup tax codes, process all payroll taxes and amendments when needed. Submit and reconcile quarterly tax files Perform year-end close procedures and process employee W-2's annually. Payroll review and audits of system data. Assist with various research projects and/or special projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Four year college degree, with HR or Accounting focus preferred Familiarity with UltiPro payroll systems required Familiarity in the education industry is a plus Two or more years of payroll experience preferred Payroll tax reporting experience required Excellent software skills, especially with Microsoft Office Excellent verbal and written communication skills Superior problem solving skills Ability to work effectively both with and without supervision Highly detail-oriented and analytical
