Job Description Cable installation projects within the metro- DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia Area Work independently or leading a crew performing various tasks such as pulling, terminating and testing copper and fiber cable, installing cable tray and various other types of cable support hardware Works either as an individual, as a team lead on small installation projects, or may lead crews on specific tasks in a larger project environment Uses hand tools, including various punch tools, test equipment, and various power tools such as hammer drills and saws Uses various types of copper and fiber cable and termination hardware as well as termination and testing procedures used on a day to day basis Uses knowledge of EIA/TIA requirements such as distance limitations and pin configurations, conduit fill ratio, pathway/conveyance requirements Uses knowledge of cable run lists and labeling methodology. Troubleshoots cable issues, pathway issues and makes recommendations to the Site Lead or Project Manager AMERICAN SYSTEMS is one of the top 100 employee owned companies in the United States. A minimum of a DoD Secret clearance (we can support up to TS/SCI) Must have full knowledge of both copper and fiber installation, testing and troubleshooting Experience leading a large crew of up to 8 installers as directed by a Site Lead or a PM. Capable of demonstrating the proper procedures for installing, terminating, testing, troubleshooting and documenting a cable plant system to team members. Reading and interpreting blueprints. Experience generating an equipment list and bill of material for completing a specific task. Strong interpersonal skills - Capable of interfacing with the customer as required on a day to day basis, and informing their Project Manager of any possible problems or changes in the scope of work. High School, plus specialized training, and a minimum of 5 years cabling experience. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 75 lbs occasionally Ability to differentiate color for color coded wiring Manual dexterity, to work with fiber terminations Ability to work in various environments - Office, Retail and Construction Ability to climb ladders, reach overhead, kneel down for long periods of time Must have reliable transportation - jobs will be within DC Metro area - to include Marylnad and Virginia - not always within access to Metro Preferred - BICSI Certified - other Vendor Certifications - Hilti, Ortronics, Commscope THIS POSITION MAY WORK VARYING SHIFTS WHEN MOVING TO NEW JOB SITES, AND REQUIRES MODERATE FLEXIBILITY IN SCHEDULING, AND TRANSPORTATION
