If you are the chosen candidate, you will be responsible for providing legal counsel and advice with respect to all deposit, lending and fiduciary operations and related issues affecting the overall operations and strategic goals of the organization. Areas of focus: Providing legal advice and counsel to bank business areas, including legal research, review and drafting of complex bank and legal agreements, memoranda, policies and procedures Assisting General Counsel on various matters as requested including issues relating to bank and bank holding company activities, strategies and acquisition efforts. Representing the organization in various industry association committees and activities Reviewing, negotiating and drafting contracts with bank service providers Working closely with Director of Vendor Management in the management of vendor contracts and the identification, measurement and mitigation of third-party risk Acting as a liaison with the regulatory agencies on critical issues affecting the organization's overall activities and operations Working closely with the Director of Regulatory Management to ensure identification of, and compliance with, all regulatory risk and regulations Consults with and provides assistance to the corporate paralegal and outside counsel with respect to litigation-related matters and procedures Required Skills Broad professional level of knowledge and expertise in banking and financial services law and procedure, including deposit and lending operations and regulatory compliance Minimum of 8-10 years experience is preferred in a bank or law firm specializing in financial services Possess thorough familiarity with related laws and regulations surrounding retail, commercial and fiduciary banking relationships Ability to effectively represent and advocate the bank's interests and positions while maintaining a strong working relationship with regulatory agencies supervising the organization's activities Must be able to manage multiple ongoing legal projects and assignments Demonstrated experience in analyzing, interpreting and communicating strategies and requirements; translating complex legal requirements into cogent written materials and oral presentations and providing effective advice in the development of products and services Possess strong communication and presentation skills to effectively explain products and interpret policy. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to maintain positive rapport with internal and external contacts Various situations require a substantial degree of analysis, interpretation and evaluation. Situations encountered may include facts, issues and circumstances, which are significantly different from those previously addressed. These situations call for the consideration of alternative courses of action and of their consequences before taking or recommending further action. Position makes decisions with the framework of practices and procedures and/or precedents or well-defined policies Ability to utilize all Microsoft Office or similar software to prepare correspondence, reports and other documents are needed Ability to travel to outside bank and non-bank locations and courts Compensation We pay competitively to Market, and offer a 401(k) plan with employer match - both pre-and post-tax contributions.
