Location: McLean, VA Duration: 1 year with possible contract to hire Financial client Strong mandatories in all of the following: - Advertising & Marketing samples/portfolio - Experience working in either/both client servicing Ad-Agency or in-house creative corporate culture - Works well in collaboration with other creatives - Will be a champion/evangelist for the capital one brand & one design standards/principles (has experience with brand guidelines) - A strong presenter of work, be able to provide solid rationale as to what is being proposed in the creative work. - Very strong digital production background (both in web, email, mobile and application environments) as well as experience in traditional (print, tv, radio) Detailed Description: Client is seeking a Sr. Digital Art-Director to join our McLean Creative Team. Client support a variety of customer segments, marketing, product and advertising for the client Investing line of business. This position will have a significant impact on the user experience of our customers in both digital and traditional channels. Digital first (HTML landing pages, micro sites, websites, mobile, online display banners, social posts, content development, animation/video) with print/traditional coming in a close second (posters, direct mail, brochures, out of home.). Responsibilities Optimizes the marketing message through smart design or copy Layout/copy should support the strategy, and ensure that the key message is clearly communicated, without distractions. Flags concerns in a timely manner, with a solution in mind. Pays attention to details Checks for product, consistency, brand standards adherence, spelling, production concerns, other errors. Understands the media (print, online, mobile) and its limitations Designs all packages/components/assets to pass production muster and for best print/on-screen results.Communication Actively listen, engage and articulate themselves in a corporate setting. Presents concepts and rationale to manager, brand strategy and/or business partners. Thinks about - and can articulate - strategy Focuses on WHY someone will open click, open, engage, read and respond to the marketing/product experience. Can be a creative-lead and collaborate with other members of creative team in brainstorming sessions to develop marketing communications for assigned LOB(s). Keeps up-to-date on industry and marketing trends and best practices Understands and stays current with the environment (legislative, economic, consumer) and competitor marketing. Breakdown of Attributes: 30% Art Direction Has grasp of development for the conceptual (campaign big ideas), exploratory (does due diligence in competitive research, brand landscape research, mood boards, look & feel exploration, design-thinking, sketching/white-boarding), credible presence during presentations and able to speak to the work with excitement/clarity/enthusiasm and passion (good at selling the idea and the execution). Experience with photography, re-touching and video shoots and an eye for composition to frame up the concept and visually support the holistic narrative or "big idea". Has a love for illustration, iconography, infographics and sketching. Able to collaborate with external teams/vendors/collaborators for projects and campaigns on a consistent basis, which will include reviews/feedback/conf-calls. 70% Art Production Very strong attributes in a production role. Has demonstrated exceptional skill-sets in graphic design, typography, interface design (User experience design, User Interface design, Information-architecture-wire framing), information design, highly capable in illustrator creating custom iconography and info graphics based on our One Design & One Brand visual language. Has experience in shooting photography and photo re-touching (custom photography as well as stock photography). Is comfortable in the dynamic space as well as static by being capable of bringing the story/campaign/narrative to life in motion (through storyboards, animation, rough-cuts) and experiential (digital channels as well as traditional environments). Has experience/expertise working in the traditional space (posters, flyers, OOH) to bring the creative to life all the way to press ready. Have experience working-in digital environments such as responsive emails, banners, web-apps and landing-page/microsite expertise. Optimal Skill Set: Has design experience Knows their way around design landing pages Any illustration capabilities (being able to create icons or graphics)- nice to have Conceptual thinking Video capabilities- nice to have Additional Information: Candidates that are perhaps less experienced in number of years, but that are conceptual thinkers and stronger in the digital space
