Under the direction of the Senior Manager - Hub, the Assistant Hub Manager I (AHM) is responsible for supporting the FedEx Ground (FXG) Safety Above All Culture and assisting the Senior Manager in overseeing the complete operation and maintenance of a hub. Ensure the hub is operating to optimize safety and quality measures, in accordance with company policies and procedures. Essential Functions Essential Functions* Serves as a champion for FXG's Safety Above All Culture and supports all related initiatives.* Manage the performance of the Managers - Dock Operations. Provide leadership, training, and opportunities in order to develop and retain talented employees. Hold Managers - Dock Operations accountable for their area of responsibility and their direct reports. Oversee labor issues, personnel issues, and employee performance.* Hire, promote, train, develop, direct, and discipline direct reports. Conduct annual performance evaluations, monthly development planning, and weekly staff and team meetings. * Assist the Senior Manager to oversee the daily operation to ensure service and financial goals are regularly achieved. Allocate hub resources using information from multiple sources (reports, direct reports, corporate office, etc.) to maximize profitability and service. * Interview, hire, compensate, discipline, and terminate hub employees (mainly direct reports, but usually involved in other employee situations). * Assist the Senior Manager to plan, develop, and execute long-term and short-term business goals. Work with third party vendors such as the staffing agencies for peak staffing needs, and the USPS and third party carriers to maintain service requirements and needs. * Manage dock hours. Verify MyTime hours against daily labor sheets, verify weekly temp agency hours, and verify that labor is coded correctly in MyTime. * Ensure organizational compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Promote affirmative action and equal opportunity employment. * Ensure the completion of all required paperwork, records, and documentation. * Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensure the maintenance of all housekeeping standards.* Participate in the development of and responsible for administering company safety strategies and programs. * Ensure necessary meetings (staff, safety, retention, etc.) are held on a regular basis and submit required documentation to the corporate office. * Ensure daily goals are met (service, staffing, etc.). When goals are not met the AHM will assist the Senior Manager to create a plan of action, communicate and implement the plan, and follow-up to ensure the goals are met. * Maintain open communication with internal and external customers (employees, staffing agency, shippers, third party carriers, etc.). And resolve any issues/complaints that are received. * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education* Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Engineering or related area required; in addition to Minimum Experience, high school diploma or GED and four (4) years' experience in logistics management is accepted in lieu of degree. Minimum Experience Minimum Experience* Two (2) years progressive management and/or operational leadership experience required; Two (2) years Senior Manager and/or operational leadership experience preferred. Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.* Ability to compute rate, ratios and percent.* Effective communication skills.* Ability to organize, motivate, and lead employees.* Solid computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.* Ability to proficiently communicate verbally and in writing using the English language.
