  • Holds Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university and completion of an approved school guidance and counseling program; holds or is eligible for appropriate licensure

  • Has successful experience in school guidance and counseling

  • Experience with High School scheduling preferred

  • Bilingual preferred

  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills

  • Must be trustworthy and dependable


Organizational Relationship:


The Welcome Center Counselor reports to the Welcome Center Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

The Welcome Center School Counselor is responsible for assisting in foreign transcript evaluations, counseling interviews, and course/program placement recommendations for students new to Loudoun County Public Schools serviced by the Welcome Center. This is a non-benefited, hourly position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Conduct academic/social history interviews with students and families

  • Conduct foreign transcript evaluations

  • Provide information on LCPS school information, county services/programs and assistance with filling out forms

  • Provide course placement recommendations to schools: familiar with Middle School and High School Program of Studies

  • Collaborate with Adult Education and Outreach office

  • Attend School Counselor Meetings

  • Other duties as assigned
