The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring safety programs and initiatives at NVMHI to minimize hazards and reduce risk of injury to patients, staff and visitors. This position coordinates the systematic identification, analysis and evaluation of exposure to risk and safety liability. The Safety Coordinator serves as an expert resource on accreditation, regulatory compliance and patient safety practices to include Joint Commission Environment of Care (EC), Emergency Management (EM) and Life Safety (LS) standards and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position is located within the Compliance and Quality Management Department.
Performs other duties assigned
Bachelors degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Safety Management and Engineering.
Must have experience in hospital safety and/or environment of care.
Strong Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Joint Commission, Emergency Management and Life Safety standards.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Certified Safety Professional
Knowledge of Performance Improvement Principles
