As the leading firm in the country which specializes entirely in senior level construction employment, we have cultivated long-term relationships with many of the industry's leading companies enabling us access to the top companies throughout the continental US We currently have a great assignment for an Estimator to support our client, a well-established commercial building contractor located in the Northern Virginia area. Our client is seeking an Estimator with experience supporting commercial high-end interior renovation and tenant fit-out projects. Job Responsibilities The Estimator will be responsible for compiling data for use in conceptual and bid proposal estimates and prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates, analysis of subcontractor bids for interiors projects of medium size and complexity or larger and for small base building structures or additions, to include: Shall represent the company at all times in a manner that supports the firm's mission statement and is consistent with its core business values Maintains current, accurate information on subcontractors and vendors and on cost and price data from subcontractors and material suppliers Assists in the selection of subcontractors and the preparation of bid packages for subcontractors Interfaces on a routine basis with owners/tenants, architects/engineers and others to provide cost data and analysis, cost savings strategies, preliminary scheduling support, plan review/feasibility analysis, material and product availability and subcontractor prequalification Conducts thorough site investigations to determine existing conditions that may impact project cost and schedule Thoroughly read and understand all pricing/bid documents for comprehensive knowledge of project requirements and impact on cost and schedule Pre-qualify and select subcontractors based on project requirements to obtain competitive pricing and compliance with project schedule Assists in bid document distribution and management for estimating which includes ordering and reproduction of bid documents, initiating bid invitations to subcontractors and follow-up, distribution of bid documents, distribution of project addendums and tracking subcontractor participation Performs material take-offs and provides quantity survey information necessary for the development of comprehensive work scope packages Prepares written work scope packages for all assigned trades and obtain vendor pricing and subcontractor cost proposals Thoroughly reviews subcontractor cost proposals and qualifications to determine completeness, accuracy and compliance with the bid documents and best value Develops and prepares conceptual cost budgets and full cost estimates based on bid documents and work scopes Develops and prepares cost savings strategies when requested Assists in the pricing of change orders when requested Assists in the development of project schedules by researching material and equipment lead times and coordinating subcontractor scheduling requirements Assists in the development and distribution of estimating/pre-construction proposals to include preparing drafts and final proposals, final proposal distribution and follow-up with clients Coordinates estimating activities with owners, A/E's, CM's, and subcontractors/vendors to resolve technical issues and to comply with all solicitation requirements Participates in formal presentations to owners, A/E's, CM's, etc., and assists in developing presentation material Assists in purchasing activities to include awarding of purchase orders and subcontracts as directed and under the supervision of the Director of Pre-construction Services Job Requirements Specific qualifications for the Estimator role include: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a related field (construction management, civil engineering or mathematics, etc.) Three to five years of estimating experience (relevant experience should include three years in the commercial construction industry) Work experience must include one to two years in the Washington, DC area within the last three years Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel Knowledge and experience with estimating software (Timberline preferred) and scheduling software (Microsoft Project) Benefits RealStreet offers a comprehensive benefit package which includes: Health, dental, vision, and prescription coverage Life insurance Long-term disability 401(k) with generous company match Paid time off Build a better construction career with RealStreet and apply now!
