Creative, resourceful, operational leader who is responsible for Information Technology support of mission-critical Financial Time Recording Systems. This individual will work actively with the GDIT business community to solve business problems with systematic and process solutions, and will support the operation of existing enterprise applications systems and services.


Responsibilities

1. Manages employees in one or more functional areas of information system solutions development and technical support, including systems programming, applications design and development (including mobile), database design and administration and information security.
2. Supervises technical professionals, and may manage subordinate supervisors.
3. Directs various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules.
4. Communicates with GD IT Businesses and Internal functions regarding roll-out plan for new applications, new project efforts, and scheduled application upgrades.
5. Prioritizes projects and work to determine the best options for implementation; assigns work to meet critical customer or organization deadlines.
6. Furnishes professional advice to all levels of management including the senior leadership team; makes presentations to boards, committees, task forces, and other groups as needed to assist in solving business problems.
7. Aids in all aspects of compliance efforts, systems analysis, general systems design, vendor contracts and detail systems design.
8. Determines work procedures and promotes workflow; studies and standardizes internal application development procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
9. Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially concerning future business application expansion.
10. Keeps up contacts within the IT organization and within the enterprise. Maintains relationship with internal customers using IT services; maintains contact with external suppliers and vendors to evaluate and assess state of the art systems design, documentation and business tools, techniques and methodologies.
11. Work hours may include meetings schedule outside of normal working hours. Demands during peak times may require work hours outside of normal working hours. Occasional travel may be required.
12. Develops schedules and assigns work to meet critical customer deadlines.
13. Ensures that proper documentation is maintained.
14. May also perform complex IT tasks.
15. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
16. Participates in special projects as required.

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.

Qualifications 8-10 years of related information systems experience, including supervisory experience.

 

1. Advanced knowledge of both information technology and business issues.
2. Advanced knowledge and awareness of current information technology products, services, and solutions.
3. Effective management skills.
4. Must be able to work independently on complex tasks which require analysis and action.
5. Must be able to work well with staff members and user community, especially with senior business management staff. Person must be able to interact with employees at all levels of the company
6. Technical experience with .NET development and Oracle Database a plus.
7. Experience with leading teams utilizing Agile and DevOps methodologies a plus.
8. Experiencing with managing and deploying mobile applications also a plus.
