Hughes is looking for a CAD Librarian to support internal groups with component library creation for PCB footprint, schematic symbols, and 3-D modeling for mechanical parts within the cutting edge field of electronic packaging for satellite communication products.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with factory on solderability of components in high-volume manufacturing line operations.
  • Maintain and optimize the CAD library management process. 
  • Research and develop new processes and internal component footprint processes within CAD.
  • Develop and maintain PCB component libraries to IPC standards and requirements.
  • Maintain MCAD critical components, like connectors, and make sure CAD origins match ECAD components.
  • Process CAD library requests for new parts.
  • Create and verify schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3-D models.
  • Understand and adhere to current IPC standards, and DFM guidelines, while contributing to improve our current PCB/MCAD library process.


  • Basic Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working with CAD Libraries and Tools.  
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interpret Manufacturer Component Data Sheets.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • IPC CID certified.
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and board assembly soldering processes.
  • Experience in electronic packaging design, mechanical design development of electro mechanical parts, and E-CAD parts to MCAD conversion.
  • Familiarity with PC-7351 for library component creation.
  • Experience in mechanical design on PCB boards, connectors components, and library of parts for board components.
  • Knowledge of Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASM Y14.5M.
  • Experience in working with preferred CAD tools:
    • Cadence Allegro
    • PTC's CREO (formerly Pro/Engineer) and Windchill
